I’ll be attending the ContentNext mixer at The Viceroy in Santa Monica. Hope to see everyone there. Don’t hesitate to introduce yourself. I’m really hoping to meet with everyone working on the “trust network” and “digital lifestyle aggregator” spaces.

The Sam Test

Our friend Susie has the world’s ugliest dog. Really. Sam has won the ugliest dog contest three years running. If he lives long enough, he’ll establish himself as the Lance Armstrong of canine ugliness.
But Sam’s site has a problem. Look up “ugliest dog” on Google, and 237,000 results come up. Yet there are no inbound links, Google says, to http://samugliestdog.com.
Yet.
Technorati finds no references to the URL and 20 with “ugliest dog” as a keyphrase.
So we have a challenge here.
Susie will be over shortly, and I’m going to try convincing her to start Sam (and Tater, his nearly-as-ugly companion) … (surprise) … a blog.
Also an ugliestdog tag. (I see Sam is already tagged ugliest on Flickr.)
If all percolates well through the ‘spheres, I’ll have a great story to tell in my talk (here’s the .pdf) tomorrow night. The title is Blogs, Wikis, Podcasting & RSS — what do they have to do with your future?
You know how to help.

I had the joy and pleasure of spending the day at UCLA with my 17 year old daughter Amanda who’s been accepted into Psychology . UCLA has the #1 psychology program in the nation and it was no small feat. Of 44,000 applicants UCLA only accepted about 4200 new students and Psych had to be the toughest.

I have been pouring over all the DJ applications that are floating around out there and stumbled onto this little gem. It’s called AlphabetSoup from OzMusicCode and it’s basically a loop/cart system that can be triggered from you keyboard. It has tons of power in this little bugger. Full AudioUnits support, pan/volume per clip and a stunningly cool little interface. The great thing is that you can have sets of these keyboards… and beyond even that it has the ability to save your entire session as a mix.
My only complaint it’s expensive…$59.00 relatively speaking. It’s especially expensive considering they used a ton of GPL audio libraries. Drop the price guys and you could sell a bunch of these to Podcasters everywhere.
[UPDATE]
New version just released with JackOSX support! Thanks to Leigh and the team.
