podcasting starting to get media attention

This is seriously starting to find its way into the mainstream media. Here is a link that I found in a comment from an article that Dan Gillmor did on SiliconValley.com.

Check it out

techaura

I’ve never been slashdotted before, thank god… but I might have invoked something far worse.

I’ve been “Curry’d”

now I have to serve up some “spicy” bandwidth

techaura: “Jerry’s new podcast is up, he’s got a podcast rss feed running on wordpress.”

(Via Adam Curry: Adam Curry’s Weblog.)

Audioblogging interviews with a speaker phone, NOT!

Interesting use of the audioblog concept. Robin Good is using it during the interview process with AP over what I’m assuming is a conference call. The audio quality is not great but I believe its just from using a speakerphone and recording with a low quality microphone. Again, this points to the promise of hi quality conversations that are recorded and syndicated using something like iChatAV, AIM or Skype.

You could even do this fairly simply by using something like booking a freeconference.com session and using a SIP softphone with the FWD service for free while just capturing the audio output with the half dozen or more well known streamripper tools.

AP’s Local Blogging Plans
: Associated Press, one of the oldest and biggest news organization inthe country, is looking into using blogging on local community level…I spoke recently to Jim Kennedy, who’s the head of strategic planning at AP, about this, and am impressed at their vision of how this this could work. The company has been looking at blogging for almost a year now, and is still working on which way to go and how to implement this…

Anyway, below (RSS readers will have to click through and listen to it on the website) is a small clip of my interview with him (my first attempt at audio and very juvenile, so please bear with it…the software I’m using for this, Userplane, is excellent, though)

The first radio show!

I finally got around to producing a new show. I did the show at a local Starbucks… and occasionally you will hear the darn espresso machine steaming milk… but all in all it’s not that bad. It is a lot better then staying home and listening to the construction crew with jack hammers!.

So here it is… enjoy.

PS: I don’t have RSS 2.0 enclosures in my version of WordPress, so you’ll need to just download direct from the blog.

UPDATE: I’ve gone ahead and modified the RSS feed to support enclosures. It’s a definite kludge at this point because WordPress doesn’t have RSS 2.0 enclosure support. If you’d like to receive the show automatically don’t forget to download a version of iPodder for your platform and subscribe to my feed.

Sept. 21st – AAC format
