AlphabetSoup just rocks..

I have been pouring over all the DJ applications that are floating around out there and stumbled onto this little gem. It’s called AlphabetSoup from OzMusicCode and it’s basically a loop/cart system that can be triggered from you keyboard. It has tons of power in this little bugger. Full AudioUnits support, pan/volume per clip and a stunningly cool little interface. The great thing is that you can have sets of these keyboards… and beyond even that it has the ability to save your entire session as a mix.

My only complaint it’s expensive…$59.00 relatively speaking. It’s especially expensive considering they used a ton of GPL audio libraries. Drop the price guys and you could sell a bunch of these to Podcasters everywhere.

[UPDATE]

New version just released with JackOSX support! Thanks to Leigh and the team.

Dedicated application for producing podcasts…

This is the first product I’ve seen that’s been developed specifically as a “podcast console”. It comes from a company called TinyScience and I’ve included a link to a quicktime demonstration of the software. It’s Windows only and requires the .Net framework installed. I haven’t used it yet but the demo looks pretty good for a basic system.

BTW: Their website renders like garbage in Safari and I’ve already complained. James Prudente the author of the software and website in question sent me a very nice response saying he’d try to fix it ASAP.

Train keeps a rollin’…..

AuctionTalk: Overstock starts podcasting a weekly show.

Impressive… and exactly what we’ve been talking about for the past couple months. It’s all about the conversation ….

I hope they work on the quality of the sound on the show. They need to buy a decent microphone and maybe a breakout box. Maybe they could get a cheap set from their auctions. ;-)
