Amabuddy to the rescue…

I’ve tried this system out a couple times and it just freaking rocks. The current state of most data networks on mobile just makes getting data in a pinch really painful.

Combining the promises of webservices, vxml, python and a little programming prowess.. introducing Amabuddy.

I’ll republish the number for them because I want this to spread like wildfire.

Call it on your phone and give it a try and better yet… add it to your contacts!

(617) 712-3574

I’m not sure how stable this thing is… I’m sure its not ready for 10,000 bloggers to hit it at once… so be patient.

PS> to the developers… integrate my selections with del.icio.us and or publish an RSS feed for each individual user.

You guys rock.

Hi,

Please try TicTap as well. http://www.tictap.com

TicTap searches by SMS, so the information is stored in your phone. We are not limited to just ISBN and UPC, try keywords too. But try to be descriptive with the words.

You can visit the website later to review all your SMS searches

TicTap also has web-based search. You can also find top-selling, most-gifted, most-wished, and newly-released products. You can even SMS price information for a product to your cell phone from the web site!

We also have a Konfabulator widget for download.

Hi Jerry,

I know this is a very old post, but I wanted to let you know that we took your suggestion and implemented an RSS feed for Amabudy (now called ‘Ringfo’ ) .

The service is the same as before, just a new name and some new features. Just go to http://ringfo.com , log in with your phone number just as before, and you’ll be given the option to get your RSS url.

if you want to enter it directly, it looks something like this :

http://ringfo.com/cgi-bin/rss_generator.py?phonenum=1235551234

where ’1235551234′ is your 10-digit phone number.

You can use that in any RSS reader you like — I have mine in my Bloglines (http://www.bloglines.com> account, so I can keep track of the items I look up with Ringfo.

thanks for the feedback and I hope you enjoy using the service.

cheers,

-Todd
